Eastgate
Eastgate is the main shopping street in Chester with the larger retail stores, and smaller unique boutiques on the Rows above. Chester is famous for its Medieval Rows - galleried buildings with covered first floor walkways.
Some shops to look our for in Eastgate include; Browns of Chester, Waltons the Jewellers, Boodle & Dunthorne, USC, Next, Sole Trader & Ecco.
Godstall Lane
Godstall Lane is a small lane connecting St Werburgh Street with Eastgate Street row. It is lined with small shops and a couple of bars. Godstall Lane is one of only four medieval lanes to survive within the City Walls. It was an important route to the Abbey of St Werburgh (Now Chester Cathedral). The name meaning 'God's Place' refers to a tradition that a hermit lived here in the 12th Century. Godstall Lane can be accessed from street level from St Werburgh Street opposite the Cathedral or by stairs to the Rows from Eastgate Street opposite Browns of Chester.
Bridge Street
Bridge Street runs North-South from the Chester Cross to the River Dee. Bridge Street has many specialist shops and boutiques; East, French Connection, Swarovski, Lowe & Sons Jewellers, Cruise Clothing and also The Grosvenor Mall Olio & Farina, Wesley Barrell, Cochrane's, also Davies Bakery is a great place for cakes and pastries!
The Rows
Either side of Bridge Street has covered Rows so don't miss these on your way back up Bridge St. Just watch out for the low wooden beams! Continuing south through the traffic lights you will find Lower Bridge Street, which has lots of places to eat.
Northgate
Northgate leads north from Eastgate and takes you up to Chester Town Hall and The Forum shopping centre. The Forum has shops including: TJ Hughes, Boots, JJB Sports and Chester City Council Offices and Chester indoor market.
The Forum is to be replaced by a new Northgate Development. It will transform the Northgate area, creating new shopping streets and Rows, apartments, indoor market, library and a performing arts centre to replace the current Chester Gateway. Another shop in Northgate well worth mentioning is the Chester Cheese Shop full of speciality cheese and pickles, don't forget your Cheshire Cheese!
Cheshire Oaks Designer Village
Ten minutes drive or twenty five minutes by bus takes you to the UK’s largest Designer Village with 140 shops many of which sell designer label clothing. Choose from Jaeger, Mulberry, Monsoon, Gap, Karen Millen, Pringle, Burberry, Elle, Ralph Lauren, Jeff Banks, Lewins and many many more! Shop till you drop! Even better, all guests of The Courtyard can receive an extra 10% discount card which can be used at most of the shops.
Cheshire Oaks also has its own Food Court, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts along with Pizza Express and Red Door Restaurants.

Arndale Centre
Located in the heart of the city, Manchester's Arndale Centre in many ways dominates the central shopping area of the City. Begun in 1972, by its completion in 1979 it was the largest covered town shopping centre in Europe, covering some 30 acres in the old city centre, with 750,000 shoppers visiting it each week. With over 200 shops, major department stores, restaurants and fast food outlets it has become a busy and active shopping arcade.

The Trafford Centre
The Trafford Centre attracts 30 million visits annually. It has four main areas: Peel Avenue, Regent Crescent, The Dome, and The Orient.
Peel Avenue is home to the high street shops such as an Apple Store, H&M, and Boots. It is also home to two department stores, the new John Lewis and the newly refurbished four-storey Marks & Spencer.
The Dome is in the middle of the centre and is home to more upmarket stores such as the first Selfridges outside of London. Regent Crescent is home to many high-end designer stores, including Karen Millen, Jane Norman, Gap and Mexx. It also houses the bookshop Waterstones and two department stores, BHS and Debenhams.
The Trafford Centre is situated just off J9 and J10 of M60.
